Creative Workshops & Contemporary Art Classes

Held by artist Bianca Tainsh in her lakeside studio. Located in a nature refuge on the shores of Lake Weyba, just 10 minutes drive from Noosaville. Experience nature like never before as we explore lakeside and Wallum bushland, to inspire creative projects in the arts, crafts and contemporary media.

In each workshop we transcend the everyday and immerse ourselves in all the diversity of colours, sounds and textures in nature, collecting inspiring visual material that you will transform into a unique creative work as a memento of your day.  Every workshop will take a different approach, exploring both traditional and unconventional methods and media.  Held by contemporary artist Bianca Tainsh, all workshops are designed to suit any level of artistic ability, as they focus on creative exploration and expression, rather than traditional art skills.

About the Artist

Bianca Tainsh is a contemporary artist and craft practitioner, based in Queensland.  Her practice explores the many contemporary paradigms that make the world what it is today - culture, science, consumerism, politics, history, the Internet - seeking connections and phenomena that inspire reflection on existential and biospherical dilemmas.  Many of her works invite a reconnection to humanity and nature, as a form of escape from commercial and media manipulation.  And, working with a diversity of forms and media, from sculpture to digital imagery, video and performance, Bianca attempts to capture the essence of her subjects, and create an involving experience for the viewer.

Along with her contemporary art experience Bianca has also been the founder of a sustainable textiles and crafts business, and strives to find new sustainable materials and methods in the creation of art and craft.  In this way she promotes sustainability, and deeper connection to our natural world.

Bianca has exhibited in solo and group shows, both in Australia and internationally.  She has participated in international residency programs and been the recipient of an ArtStart grant among other awards.  Though a dedicated contemporary artist Bianca has curated exhibitions for galleries, festivals, and independently.  She has travelled Europe and America, visiting galleries, arts initiatives, biennales, contemporary art festivals and art fairs along the way.  Her artistic education includes a 1st Class Honours and Bachelor of Fine Arts from RMIT University, and to compliment the social aspects of her practice she also studied Arts & Community Engagement at the Victorian College of the Arts.

View her work Timepiece HERE, set to tour Queensland as part of the Queensland Regional Art Awards touring exhibition during 2020.

Bianca is the proud holder of a Working with Children Blue Card.

Protist Studios would like to acknowledge the Gubbi Gubbi people as being the traditional custodians of Lake Weyba and the land where Protist is located, and pay respects to Elders - past, present and emerging.
